Kinmount has a beautiful aviary, one of the first ever built in Europe, has been home to some of the rarest and most exciting birds of prey over the last 200 years. Having fallen into disuse in the 1960's, the aviary was renovated completely in Summer 2001. Currently occupied by various hawks.

Kinmount leisure has access to over 25,000 acres of woodland and moorland offering walked up days and driven shoots for 50 to 250 bird days, including pheasant and partridge. Teams of up to 8 guns at a time, the drive provides varied shooting, which tests the best of shots with high challenging birds in all conditions.

Clay shooting is available locally and professional tuition can also be organised at a beautiful site 20 minutes drive from the estate.
NEW! - Kinmount now offer simulated game shooting and packages with costs from £60 per person including clays and cartridges, and we can also offer hospitality for larger groups. Tuition on a one to one basis is another alternative.

Kinmount Castle has access to salmon and trout fishing on various private beats of many local rivers, including the river Nith (where a 67lb Salmon was caught in 1812) and the river Annan. This area boasts a wide rand of fishing facilities to suit all types of angler, including river, still water, sea, and coarse fishing. Discounts are often available to guests staying in the cottages and one to one tuition is also available by prior booking.

We are also very close to Broom Fisheries, Scotland's leading coarse fishing lakes and waters, nestled away in a quiet, picturesque corner of South West Scotland. Fully stocked lakes for leisure and competition fishing. Species include Carp, Barbel, Roach, Perch, Tench, Chubb, Bream and more.
Clive Mitchelhill at Border Game Angling offers professional tuition and guiding services on nearby Cumbria's river Eden to beginners and experienced anglers alike. Fly fishing courses include salmon, evening sea trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling and pike - something for everyone at any time of the year.

Opened in 1903 and redesigned by the legendary James Braid in 1923, the course offers a superb test of golf with its many challenging holes which are set among whins and rough and has earned Powfoot the tag of "one of golf's best kept secrets".
